  • (military) a training march under combat conditions, thus with a rifle, tactical gear, and usually a full rucksack, generally through mixed terrain (thus combined with a Geländemarsch (Geländemarsch)), and with the obligation to support and, if need be, carry exhausted or injured comrades; distinct from an Orientierungsmarsch (Orientierungsmarsch) inasmuch as the marching route is signposted.
